Brenda and Greg

About Brenda

Brenda has spent most of her life in her home state of North Dakota. She began learning to play the violin at the age of five, and later took up flute and piano. Her first car was a 1974 Chevy Nova, but her preferred mode of transportation was a Purebred Arabian horse named Delicatte.

Determined to pursue a career in writing, Brenda received her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications, and then went on to complete a Master of Science in Journalism at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. Through Medill, she enjoyed reporting stories in Chicago, Washington DC, and London.

Following graduation, Brenda worked for eight years in Bismarck, ND, as a television news reporter, producer and morning news anchor. She moved 100 miles east in early 2008, and is now the Marketing and Communications Director for the Anne Carlsen Center, a non-profit organization serving and empowering individuals with disabilities.

Brenda’s parents live in West Fargo, ND, and she has a younger brother who—at 6’6”— is not her little brother anymore! She loves traveling, walking/hiking, scrapbooking, reading, and spending time (every precious minute) with Greg. She attends Temple Baptist Church, where she participates in a small group and serves as a Cubbies leader at AWANA. She believes that prayer is one of the most important means by which we can experience God’s love and grace in our lives.

About Greg

The Lone Star State has been home for Greg since 1994, but the first years of his life were spent in northern Michigan. The chilly temps and lake-effect snow of Traverse City were good preparation for frequent visits, many years later, to North Dakota to visit Brenda! Greg has also lived in Arizona, Florida, England and France. Greg is the oldest of five children, and his parents operate a campus ministry in Montpellier, France.

At the age of 17, Greg acquired his first computer, which sparked a life-long interest in typesetting and graphic design, and eventually led him from troubleshooting his own computer into network administration and Information Technology management. He got his bachelor’s of science in Business Computer Information Systems, and later, his MBA from The University of Texas at Austin—The Red McCombs School of Business. Greg is employed by Deloitte Consulting as a Senior Consultant.

Greg enjoys the expository preaching of John Piper and Tim Keller, and is a member of Christ Presbyterian Church of Flower Mound. He is an avid do-it-yourselfer, and has taken on a wide variety of home improvement projects ranging from fence building to fan installation. He also loves to travel (as does his fiancée) and visited Chile in 2007 as part of his MBA program.
